Eczema and Rawtill4: Off the menu?

Especially following my post on eczema healing, it’s probably important now to explain briefly WHY I don’t eat cetain foods, even if they are vegan. I know plant based eating can be scary in the beginning as it is, and this may seem like a long list, I know! But really, it’s only an inconvenience if you’re eating a standard American diet filled with processed junk and low amounts of fresh food. Really, it shifts you toward eating a simple, wholesome vegan diet where you no longer have to worry about checking packets for ingredients. The only foods I buy are the ones that don’t COME WITH LABELS, and if it IS packaged, it only has one ingredient (eg. canned organic tomatoes with nothing added).

Okay, I try :P but definitely the majority of foods I eat are in their whole, unprocessed form.

The simpler you eat, the simpler your health will be. You no longer have to think about these things any more…calories and daily intake percentages and whatnot. You can just eat knowing that what you’re putting into your body is going to give you vibrant health!

The Non-negotiables (cut these out asap!)

1. Animal Products

-High in saturated fat ie. OBESITY CAUSING

-No fibre. Constipation craziness

-Contains no nutrients that cannot be obtained from plant foods

-High protein content leaches calcium and minerals from the bones (want some osteoporosis with that steak?)

-You are voting YES to cruelty in the form of factory farming (watch Earthlings)

-It WILL make you fat, sick, tired and gross!

-There have been many studies displaying a clear link between dairy products and autoimmune diseases such as eczema

2. Fried Foods

-Acidic in the body (watch this)

-Acts as a foreign toxin due to rancidity caused by overheating oils repeatedly

-HIGH HIGH HIGH in saturated and TRANS fats! Trans fats are CARCINOGENIC!

-An eczema irritant

-Will cause acne, will make overweight. Don’t go dere guys!!

3. Chilli

-Major eczema irritant. The inflammation chilli sparks in the body can send it into all kinds of stress. Generally not a healthy food addition and contains a toxin called “capsaicin” that creates the heat that sends our bodies into an inflammatory response

-Most people are actually fine with chilli, but whenever I include it back into my diet it triggers eczema flare ups. Just test this one out and see how you go!

4. Artificial Products

-Chemical. Shitstorm. Need I explain?

5. Olives

-Not exactly carcinogenic, but a high salt, high fat waste of caloric space in your stomach. They contain way more salt than is healthy, and are an unnecessary food. If you can’t eat them abundantly, why eat them at all?

6.Nuts and avocados

I’m not a fat-o-phobe, however most of us underestimate the damage of consuming excess fat. Nuts are such a rich source of fat that it’s easy to go overboard with your fat intake just by eating one or two more than recommended. I used to smash in the bags of cashew nuts back when I thought I needed to super-supplement of protein… it left me fatted out, bloated, sick, unfit and toxic (due to my bad digestion and elimination). Nuts aren’t the worst food for you, and the fats they contain are better than hydrogenated oils in your Medowlea ‘butter’, but I choose to avoid them altogether and get all my essential fatty acids from fruits, vegetables and grains. Be mindful that the fat you eat is the fat you wear! (it’ll also slow down your athletic performance!)

7. Peanuts

No, I didn’t forget I already listed nuts as a food I don’t consume. Peanuts actually aren’t nuts…they are a legooome! I don't avoid eating legumes such as lentils and beans (I actually love them!), however peanuts get a special slap on the wrist. I was unaware for many years (my mum the garden guru informed me of it) that in raw form, legumes contain phytohemagglutinin (PHA), a glycoprotein toxin that can be fatal in high amounts! Peanuts, however, are indeed a legume that is not originally meant to be eaten raw. They can spark inflammation in the body, and are pretty difficult to digest being so high in protein and fat. Peanut butter sits like a brick in the intestines! I feel so much better having cut out overt fats such as nuts, avo and peanuts-- not only were they massive cystic acne triggers but also slowed down my athletic performance and endurance!

Other Foods I avoid on a HCLF plant based diet

1. Oils (refined, processed FAT. 2 tablespoons of olive oil contains over your daily intake of fat! Imagine eating it more than once per day…)

2. Soy (most products contain GMO soy, watch Food Inc. to understand the dangers of GMO soy. After reading Dr Mcdougall's reports on adolescent acne, I became aware that soy is a higher fat food that can be an acne trigger if you're fat sensitive)

3. Superfoods (eat real food. Not packages powders.)

This WAS meant to be a vlog, but apparently I’m not as good with technology as I thought. I let my generation down… I DO, however, know how to use email and facebook :P so if you have any further questions regarding these foods, especially if you’re suffering weight, acne or eczema issues, feel free to send them over!
