Be silly.
Be healthy.
Be kind.
WhyVegan?
Soo...what's the deal with this whole, 'vegan' thing?
These days, 'vegan' is less and less of an alienish word-- whether you're vegan yourself or not, you probably know at least one vegan. More and more people are decreasing their animal product intake, and that's so damn awesome. I know lot of people think that vegan is just another fad diet, but it's so much more. It's reflected in every aspect of your life.
By choosing to go vegan you are (conciously and subconciously) choosing to: love your body, help the environment, promote a healthy lifestyle, save the animals and even work towards ending world hunger.
Those are the main reasons people choose to live ethically and compassioantely with a vegan lifestyle, because without a doubt living this way can help end some of our most devastating global problems.
In 2011-12, 62.8% of Australians aged 18 years and over were considered overweight or obese, 27.5% being obese. A key contributor (contrary to popular belief) is the high intake of saturated animal fat and cholesterol, cholesterol only being present in animal products such as meat, cheese, eggs etc.
More than 70% of the grain we harvest is fed to livestock animals in the meat industry, in actual fact enough grain is produced each year to feed 800 million people on a plant-based diet yet (according to the UN Global Hunger Index) approx. 21,000 people die every day in underdeveloped countries from starvation... even though they are the countries usually producing this food.
In a 2006 report from the United Nations, animal agriculture was found to be a larger contributor to greenhouse gas emissions than all forms of transportation combined. The methane produced by cattle is 25 times more harmful to the environment than carbon dioxide, and is being concentrated through factory farming
Come on, Let's change this planet!
It's cool to be kind
