Are Humans Meat Eaters?

Lily Green

One of the most common misconceptions about human nutrition is the necessity of animal products in our diet. We need meat for protein right? The truth is this: there are no vital nutrients in meat or dairy humans require to be healthy that can't be obtained from plants. Where do you think the animal's whose flesh we eat get their protein?? Think abouuuut it...

*NOTE: B12 is the one exception of a nutrient we can't get from plants, but it's actually a bacteria that I'll explain soon.

A shit tonne of marketing and propoganda has led us to believe we need dairy for calcium, fish for omega 3 and meat and eggs for protein. What they don't tell you about are the dangerous levels of saturated fat and cholesterol in these products and not mention the hormones and bacteria found commonly in meat and eggs and dairy today. Salmonella, anyone?

A MUST SEE: How the egg corporations cleverly market their products so you think they are healthy... which of course they aren't!

Let me make this clear: humans are, biologically, herbivores. WE ARE NOT OMNIVOROUS. We did not 'adapt' to eat meat. NEWSFLASH. We adapted to eat starches. Ever wonder about the fact that we evolved above lesser primates who lived on fruits and berries and raw vegetation, yet we can digest cooked starches and draw energy from them? By eating starches we were able to source a high-energy, high carbohydrate food that could be stored during the winter (rice etc) when fruit is scarce.

We do not have canine teeth for biting into flesh, as flesh eating animals have a full row of sharp, pointed teeth usually paired with a set of sharp claws to tear into their prey. Now look down at those finger nails of yours, do you really think you could tear open a zebra with those?

Not only do we lack the physiology to handle chasing, catching and eating a wild animal (without marinade!) we chemically are not equipped to break down flesh either. Carnivorous animals have acidic saliva to break down their food. Our saliva is not only slightly alkaline, but is dominated with the enzyme AMYLASE which, if you weren't asleep during this part of Bio, you'd know that Amylase begins to break down STARCH into simple SUGARS for digestion. The enzyme PROTEASE breaks down protein, but we have very little.

We also aren't able to efficiently digest meat properly once it is in us. It was so fascinating and tragic to see the Australia Day meat campaigns, I think they promoted it well given their choice of spokesperson... 'Eat Lamb, Look like Sam Kekovic!' It's all pretty accurate (notice in most of the campaign photos they captured from shoulders up?). All the rotting, decomposing animal flesh stuck in his intestines and colon without any fibre, and all the saturated fat and cholesterol feeding his huge gut and putting him at risk of heart disease, diabetes and colorectal cancer if he hasn't already been diagnosed with one of those.

But that's the results you get from a diet high in animal products across many many years-- our anatomy doesn't really leave us with much reason for meat eating.

We require a diet rich in healthy, low fat, plant wholefoods with no cholesterol and all the fibre and high water content for amazing digestion and assimilation (uptake of nutrients). Fibre is only found in plant foods. It's so crazy that we sell fibre supplements such as Metamucil and Benefibre (so common I can name them without thinking twice). We shouldn't need FIBRE supplements, our FOODA should contain all the fibre we need! One of the most incredible benefits most will gush about going vegan/plant based is lightning digestion and the elimination of constipation.

We have very long digestive tracts in comparison to carnivorous or omnivorous animals. We digest food a lot slower and when we eat a larger amount of fat, it is absorbed quite heavily and stored into our own fatty tissue almost directly. It has been found in numerous studies that if a sample of a human's adipose tissue is taken and analysed, it can be determined what type of dietary fat that person has taken in which has been transferred into their own body fat through diet. So when you eat bacon fat, you are more or less getting a fat transplant from a pig. Werk it.

Forget leather and fur honestly, you wear what you EAT. Eat fat, be fat. Eat fresh, healthy whole plant foods, look fresh and vibrant and healthy.

Carnivorous animals, however, have very short digestive tracts so that when they eat raw animal flesh (including eyeballs, nose, ears) it passes through them at a rapid rate where they do not absorb as much of the fatty acids and cholesterol, hence why carnivores that live on this stuff don't die of a heart attack or get clogged arteries like we do. You can't fool mother nature yo.

I repeat, we are not natural meat eaters and it is not 'instinctive' to eat fried chicken. That's food addiction. And all of the oils, salts, flavorings and additives we drown our steak/chicken/lamb/burgers/whatfuckingever in makes it more palatable. How many people do you know that would eat a raw chicken breast? Or slice up a zebra tongue and eat it? Feet? Eyeballs? Why not??

Instead, we fry or barbecue or preserve to make it taste like, well, not meat. If we were instinctive meat eaters we would see someone walking a dog and feel hungry. Or a see a cow in a paddock and want to stick a fork straight into it alive. Children play with animals, they don't bite them. A wild tiger cub would see something alive and kill it as a form of 'play'. If a child killed the pet bunny it got for christmas with it's bare hands you'd be dialling for a psychiatrist before you could say "Mmmm meat". Wild lions also occasionally kill their own cubs. If you killed your child in the state of Victoria you'd go to jail, pronto.

WE ARE NOT INSTINCTIVE MEAT EATERS.

Thankyou so much for reading, I'm going to link another few really good videos that again, explain all this stuff a lot better than I can and also an interview with Gary Yourovsky that's just so damn true and eye opening for a lot of you guys.

I know it's a crazy amount of information to take in and it's probably going to seem untruthful or shocking, and that's okay.

~

Just remember, the truth passes through 3 stages:

-First it is ridiculed

"HAHA vegans are stupid. Mmmm steak"

-Second it is violently opposed

"Look, I don't want to know about the stupid animal slaughter okay it's so fucking annoying how you guys push your views onto everyone else"

-Third it is accepted as fact

"Holy shit, what just happened"
