But humans have evolved to eat meat!
It's the most common misconception someone spouted some time ago and it has never gone away... but let me share some well-justified info: we are not natural hunters, nor should we be eating animal flesh!! It's a long running belief that we have canine teeth, a highly developed brain structure to create hunting tools and that we have risen above other primates due to our flesh intake. But is this true? And do we REALLY have 'hunter instincts'? Let's have a look shall we...
First of all, can I note on the 'instincts' part... most people I know who choose to eat the legs, arms, butts and egg sacs of other land animals agree that if they had to kill it themselves for food, they probably would opt to go apple picking and gather their food instead. Talk about instincts. How many times do you feel your hunger pangs coming on find yourself salivating when you walk past a pet shop? Or take your dog for a walk? I think it's the opposite to having a 'natural instinct' for eating meat. I think we're choosing to override and ignore our natural instincts to be compassionate and sympathetic... or we just don't know what's going on behind slaughterhouse walls. I'll give you a hint: it's pretty horrendous. From a month old baby carnivorous animals such as lion cubs or tiger cubs will see prey and instinctively hunt it and kill it. Some lions will even kill their young!
If you put a baby in a crib with an apple and a bunny rabbit... do you really think the baby is going to lunge for the bunny rabbit and tear it's throat out? We don't even do that as adults! I'll take that apple thanks.
I've linked some videos that explain if humans are natural meat eaters down below, much better explained than I ever could. View them with an open mind :) I know it's different information to what we're used to, so it may be a little confusing or confronting. It will make so much sense though x
